A Little Color

A couple of very good reasons to have washable, non-toxic crayons.

Have I Shown You This?

I don't remember, but I couldn't find it - so, I guess not.  Like how my reasoning works?

At one point I had quite the issue of furniture placement in our living room.  Link here.

This is how things were arranged right after I finished painting.  The top picture is my attempt to make my husband happy.  Making sure the huge recliner was positioned just right to view the television was a must.  As well as the ability to recline fully for those days when he wants to watch sports through his eyelids.
Instead of getting rid of the recliner altogether, I moved things around.  Again.
The love seat is once again along the stair wall.  And Super Hubby's chair is in a spot that meets all of the above criteria and yet doesn't feel awkward in the room.

Still working on that end table situation.

A Little Change

I'm switching over to a new Facebook page.  Not a huge difference, but I like the options on this page better than the current one.  If you would like to continue getting the updates and new post via Facebook, click on the 'Like' button in the box to the right.

I'm Still Here

Have you missed me?  I've missed you!  There have been short bursts of blog and Facebook lurking, but I've been a bit preoccupied for the past couple of months.  With what, do you ask?  Why, with varying degrees of this....
Some moments were worse than others.  And then there were times that we all just had to stand back and laugh (even though it really wasn't funny).

Life seems to be back to 'normal' and we are enjoying the nice weather during Spring Break.  Plus, I've really enjoyed having the whole family back in church services.

Several WIP are out on my dining craft room table and I've been cracking the whip on Kevin to get a few projects done, as well.  I'm a very good supervisor.  Just come on over and I'll show you. :)

So, stay tuned!

My Baby Turns 1!

It's hard to believe it's been a year!
We had a very low key birthday for the little man over the weekend.  Grandpa and Grandma came in for a visit (very brave of them, considering the illness(es) we have in this home) to play with the kids and help us celebrate our youngest.  We had beautiful weather and a lot of outside time before the snow hit Saint Louis.
'Do they act like this often?'
'Okay.  The icing is worth it!'
It's been a crazy, busy year.  A fun year, as well.  He's a good baby and happy most of the time.  We're still waiting for the gender differences to really become apparent, but I'm sure we'll see that much more in the year to come.  :)

A Good Book: Volume 2

I've been reading some new(er) books.  You know, ones with a 2010 publishing date?  I'm usually playing catch-up with all the new release stuff and about 2 years out.  Pretty stinkin' proud of myself for finally reading something before my younger sis.

This was a fun read.  Very Harry Potter-esque.  I had heard nothing about this book or the author before this, but I will be looking for other writings by her.  It was a very quick and easy read - since it's for the 6-9th grade group.  If my oldest ever gets interested in reading, these would really intrigue her.

My SIL's mother got us started on these books.  The kids don't have the attention span nor the desire to sit and read these on their own, yet.  But, we've had a lot of fun reading them together.  I'll take just about any excuse to read a book.  And, since the school encourages the parents to read with their kids, that's enough for me.  :)

Okay.  I picked this one up thinking it was a novel.  Nope.  I'm thinking by the end of the series I am going to like these books better than Twilight.  {GASP!}  I know!  I wouldn't have thought it possible, but it's true.  I'm already re-reading it after finishing Book 2.  (Imagine my husband hanging is head and shaking it with a smirk on his face.  Yes, this is pretty typical of me.)

Second book in the Fallen Series.  This is even better than the first book.  I'll re-read it after I finish the first book again.  :)

Third book.  Not due out until June 2011. {sigh!}  Seriously, these books are good enough (and addicting enough) that I'm seriously considering buying them.  :)  Especially since the Borders close to us is going out of business.

Decorating My Home: Stairway Window

This blank boring window has been taunting me since we moved in.

It's a very visible window.  You can see it  from the kitchen, living room and every time you walk up the stairs (duh!).  I've had such a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do with it.

Last week (while Kevin was gone), I decided to just pick something out and get it done.  2 years is a long time to have something on a 'to-do' list!

I finished some window treatments over the weekend and then Most-Wonderful-Husband-In-The-World put it up for me Monday night.
He had an audience while hanging them.
A small casualty while hanging.  The 60" 1x3 board that the curtain is stapled to decided not to stay put while he was reattaching the L brackets.  (Looks like we will be replacing the 'temporary' accordion blind sooner than later.)
A little closer view.  Like the beaded fringe?
A little color on that big, white, empty wall is nice.  I must say, I'm VERY pleased with the finished results!
