Workshop in Full Swing

In between all the normal daily activities, I've been trying to get all the Christmas preparations done.  We are in full swing!  I'm giving myself until Friday to get all the sewing done.  (Fingers crossed!!)  I finally got the tree and a small amount of the decorations up this past Friday.  Plus, I have a couple of packages that need to be mailed by the weekend.  All very do-able.

My kids have been getting in the Christmas mood this past week, too.  Arts and Crafts have been cluttering up the 'craft room', but it is just too cold for them to do much outside these days.  I love seeing them so intent on their projects.  (The mess afterward- not so much.)
Our oldest really surprised me with her creativity this weekend.  I thought nothing of it when she said she wanted to make a snowman.  This is what she showed me when she was finished.

I mean, really, why stick to one dimensional art at age 7?

A Moment

Things a have been moving right along here in the Wise home.  We have several things going on right now and sadly they require no crafting, power tools or paint.

I did take a few moments to sit down with the kids and do a little holiday decorating. :)

Those nails are little!  And hard to paint when attached to a 3 year old wiggle worm.  :)  Painting was done with a toothpick since I couldn't locate my artist brushes.  She loved every minute of it, though.

beads

It's always interesting trying to find fun activities for 3 highly active girls in the middle of winter that we didn't do the day before. The cold or mud (once we get a warmer day) seems to keep us inside most of the time, leaving idle hands as a result. Solution? Get out the beads and make some beautiful jewelry!

Some tips for helping the little ones be able to do this on their own. 1) Double the string. This will keep the necklace nice and strong when played with for hours as a jump rope. 2) Tie one end to a bead to keep all the others from falling off. 3) Wrap tape around the other end to make it easier for the kids to get the beads loaded on. By doing this even my 2 year old was able to do most of it herself.

Results: P.S. I highly recommend doing all this in your PJ's.
